The Seven Coloured Earths is one of Mauritius’ most famous natural attractions. Inside the park, you’ll see the vibrant seven-hued sand dunes, the impressive Chamarel Waterfall, and have the chance to touch and feed giant tortoises. The dunes, shaped by thousands of years of rain, reach up to 15 meters and display distinct colours due to iron and aluminium particles naturally separating.
Guided tours explain the area’s volcanic origins, land shifts, and the geological processes that formed Mauritius’ reefs, lagoons, mountain ranges, and basalt cliffs. The park also has a recommended café offering the only coffee grown and processed in Mauritius, refreshing sugarcane drinks, and natural popsicles made locally.
