Kids clubs in resorts – Mauritius

So after a long trip of about three weeks, in which we used all possible services that could tire and occupy our two-year-old, we surveyed all the children’s clubs and came back with conclusions for the participation of parents who come to paradise – Mauritius.

Let’s start by saying that in all hotels (except for Heritage Telfair) children from the age of 3 and older can stay in the Kids Club free of charge and without the need to be accompanied by parents. Under the age of 3, an accompanying parent is needed or a fee ranging from 400-500 Mauritian rupees per hour (depending on the hotel) for a nanny to be with the child. Hertz Telfair has a nursery up to the age of 3 and the child can be left with a nanny at no extra cost. But a nanny is also attached to the other hotels at NIS 35 per hour, this price is a joke. In addition, in all the hotels we were asked to fill out an introduction form where they ask important questions such as allergies and what can be done with it (take it to the pool? to the sea? get water tattoos?…), they care a lot about what we are ready for and where the limit is and they really take everything into account. We scored from 1-10 and tried to target. Enjoy!

The Westin Turtle Bay Hotel – The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa

Already at the entrance, the place is very attractive to children with many colors and a large area of open garden with climbing facilities, a large slide and swings. The playroom is invested, with boy-girl toilets at the appropriate height, a place for changing, a play corner and a play and craft corner. Outside there is a huge trampoline and an area to play soccer. The atmosphere is good, pleasant, there is a good air conditioner, friendly staff but not enough in quantity for the children who were there.

Positive: excellent, well-maintained play areas, clean accessible toilets, fun activities that are adapted to all ages (including taking to the pool and shared meals in the dining room even without the parents).

Negative: There is no pool in the playground itself and more babysitters are needed in the evening. 2 are not enough.

Score: 8

Marriott Hotel – JW Marriott Mauritius Resort

The kids club at the Marriott is the friendliest and most active we have been to during the entire trip. The number of caregivers is excellent, amazing attitude towards children. They take care of everything, from the small items, when every child and adult who enters has to take off their shoes, they lock the entrance door to the playroom and the exit to the yard every time someone enters or leaves and they really take care of that.

After registration, boys receive a backpack and a shirt and the girls a stunning beach bag in the right size for them. The playhouse has excellent air conditioners, fun music that was not in the others, a rest area with televisions, a creative area, a music area, an amazing garden with a heated pool and very fun for children. In addition there are climbing games, slides and swings and a shaded changing activity area. This playhouse has accessible toilets for the children at their height, a separate changing area at the mother’s height, and really a lot of thinking down to the smallest details.

In this hotel we took a perfect babysitter and we really felt that it was a very safe and perfect place for a child.

Positive: Everything is perfect.

Negative: We didn’t find it.

Score: 10.

Heritage Awali Golf and Spa Resort

Avali’s children’s club was the least active of the others, with staff reduced compared to the others already from the morning, although there were not many children, but this remained the case afterwards. About 2 nannies for 7 older children, regardless of the nannies for the small children (there was one for 1 child in this case). The club has a small heated pool at a low height that is suitable for children, games for children, a small open building with fans where people sit to create works and watch shows, a large outdoor area with swings, slides and even a real small submarine that they “planted” in the yard.

Positive: nice activities to play in the place itself. The children’s sleeping area is air-conditioned.

Negative: poor staff and less caring than the others, the activities with the staff are quite “boring”, there are no toilets at the height of the children, it is very hot there for those who are not in the crib area.

Score: 5

Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort

hallelujah! The first children’s club that separated the little ones from the big ones like at home. Up to the age of 3, the children are admitted to another area adapted to games, activities and joint activities, when each child receives an attached nanny – at no additional cost! There are security cameras, shoes are removed at the entrance here too, there are lots of comfortable sleeping areas for small children and swings and things suitable for babies on the floor. For the grown-ups – movies, games, a creative area and really fun activities, a lovely area for playing outside and inside, a pool and many movies. The place is air conditioned.

Positive: Everything is perfect.

Negative: We didn’t find it.

Score: 10.

Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

The feeling when you enter the wooden gates of the Dina Rubin playground is that of a large beach where children have been allowed to have an open and less fixed creative thinking. When you enter and register, you also get a branded backpack from the playground. The staff is friendly and the number of nannies matched the number of children. The enclosed area is in a very small building, with very few games, a locker room and one small toilet. Most of the games are spread out on pleasant sea sands and a wooden deck, many vehicles for the little ones, a yoga and games area, a treehouse, many ball games and a facilities area where there was always a worker watching so that a child wouldn’t fall. The activities they offered were very interesting and were also suitable for small children, but the fact that there is no pool and that the children go to it with the nannies is not heated and the club itself is hot because everything was really open and without air conditioning, lowered the score.

Positive: good staff and suitable for the amount of children, interesting activities with the staff for all ages, a cool area for playing on the second floor of the wooden house.

Negative: no adapted toilets, no heated pool, no air conditioners, the amount of games in the playground is poor.

Score: 7.

Royal Palm – Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

Royal Children’s Club. Definitely a royal place, how those who enter feel it. This is the most decorated and the most beautiful playhouse we’ve been to, but the staff there was not enough for even 3 children (one nanny told us that she also had 10 children, which is very disturbing considering that the children there do not all speak English or French and there is really no proper attitude). There are many games in the playground – there is golf for the little ones, billiards, table tennis, a very large drawing area, a movie viewing area, a play area, a large heated pool with inflatables. There are no activities in the hotel for children, there are no services suitable for children’s height.

Positive: the place is really very beautiful, attractive games for children.

Negative: Apart from the design, it doesn’t seem like they took into account that children will actually come to this hotel. Not enough staff, no activities, no accessible services.

Score: 5, and that’s also because of the design.
