Best Time to Visit – Weather
The ideal times to visit Mauritius are during the transitional seasons: April to June and September to December.
Summer (December to February) is typically hot and humid with frequent rainfall. Winter (June to August) is cooler and dry.
Being a tropical destination, rain is always a possibility, but the rainiest period is from December to April, which can occasionally bring tropical cyclones and strong winds.

Currency Exchange
While some places accept euros and US dollars (printed after 2009), it is recommended to exchange money at the airport upon arrival. After collecting your luggage, you’ll find several currency exchange counters with no commission, where you can easily convert to the Mauritian Rupee.

SIM Card
The most affordable and reliable option is to purchase a local MTEL SIM card. Even if you’ve arranged an international roaming package, local reception with MTEL tends to be significantly better. The MTEL counter is located near the currency exchange booths in the arrivals hall.

Attractions
Mauritius offers a wide variety of attractions and experiences. We recommend booking activities in advance for better availability and peace of mind. If you’re concerned about changes or cancellations, review the cancellation policies—most attractions allow cancellations up to one or two days prior.
